  • Greetings to the Monty Tech Community,

I must admit that I am surprised that we have already reached the point of being 75% through my first year as the Superintendent of our amazing school district. However, I am more than happy to – mostly – have the days of winter storms and possible delays/cancellations behind us as we look forward to the onset of spring with outdoor sports, the prom and our graduation on the distant horizon. Still, we have a lot of work to accomplish before we get to those events, and I encourage all students to stay focused on their vocational and academic efforts in order to finish the year strongly.

I am reaching out to the entire school community with an update on my initial message in the fall regarding my entry plan process. If you recall, it is an expectation of new superintendents to implement a comprehensive review of the school district by meeting with stakeholders, surveying community members, analyzing school data and studying the foundational documents of the district. The goal for this effort is to introduce the new superintendent to the state of the district so that he or she may begin to develop a strategic plan moving forward.

Fortunately, after eight years as Monty Tech principal, I was very familiar with the inner workings of the district. Nevertheless, as I completed my own entry plan process, I made sure to adjust my assessment of the district to be through the lens of the superintendent. In doing so, I was able to identify a diverse collection of priorities that I plan to follow as I, along with our administrative team, develop our upcoming 2023-2026 District Improvement Plan.

With that work coming soon, for now, I am proud to share the results of my districtwide review as shown through my Superintendent’s Entry Report, which can be reviewed by clicking HERE.

I strongly encourage all members of our school community, as well as residents of each of our eighteen sending communities, to review this plan. I hope that you find it enlightening as the students, families, faculty, staff and administration of Monty Tech continue to strive to provide the highest level of vocational instruction to our daytime students as well as our evening adult workforce students.

Finally, once again, I want to thank all members of our community for allowing me the opportunity to lead one of the preeminent school districts in the commonwealth.

    Best regards,

    Thomas Browne, Superintendent-Director
